Creating and Managing Spotlight Groups
Creating a Spotlight Group is
the first step to adding spotlights to a webpage. Once a spotlight group
has been created, individual spotlights can be added to the group and then placed on a page.
Creating a new Spotlight Group
- Once logged in, click Spotlights in the left hand menu of the admin panel.
- From the Spotlights page, click the Spotlight Groups button.

- From the Spotlight Groups page, click the + Spotlight Group button.

- Give the group a Name, typically something related to what area of the website the group will be displayed such as: Middle School Spotlights.
- Description is optional and is for internal reference only.
- Select the Size Category associated with Spotlights from the Size Category dropdown. This
setting activates the cropping tool when adding an image to spotlights
in this group ensuring all spotlights in this groups have the same size
images. If no Size Category is selected, spotlights added to this group
will accept any size image. Web Administrators have the ability to add new Size Categories.
If spotlight images are varying sizes, the max width of the image displayed can be set in the spotlight block when adding spotlights to a page. Image sizes may be limited by styling if Foxbright has added special styling, such as a button-look, to a specific spotlight area. - The Building setting is for websites using themes (individual colors for each school
building). Selecting a building will apply the building's theme to the
spotlight group. If a website doesn't use themes, this setting won't
have an effect.
- In the Permissions tab, click the name of users to add them to Selected Editors column to give them permission to the spotlight group.
- Save the Spotlight Group.
Managing Spotlight Groups
- click Spotlights in the left hand menu of the admin panel.
- From the Spotlights page, click the Spotlight Groups button.
The gear icon next to each Spotlight Group contains the following options:
- Edit - Opens the Spotlight Group form where settings such as name, size category, and permissions can be changed.
- Reorder -
Allows reordering the spotlights assigned to the group. Reordering
spotlights in the group affects the order the spotlights are displayed
in the group once placed on a page.
- Delete - Deletes the spotlight group and the spotlights assigned to the group.
