Displaying Spotlights on a Page

Some website areas have targeted styling for spotlights, creating a special look such as buttons, or hover states. This styling can override settings made in the spotlight block. Contact support@foxbright.com if a spotlight group isn't displaying as anticipated.
  1. Edit the page where the spotlights are to be added.
  2. Hover over an available content block and select Change Block, or Add Block if a new block needs to be added to a section of the page.
  3. Select Spotlights from the Select Block Type dropdown and click Add/Change Block
  4. Configure the spotlight settings and Save the window. The Spotlights will display on the page once it has been published. New spotlights added to the group will automatically appear on the page.

Spotlight Block Settings

The following settings are available in the Edit Spotlights block:
  1. Title - Adds a title above the displayed spotlights
  2. Spotlights Group - Determines which spotlight group is displayed

Display Options

  1. Show Name/Description/Image - A combination of these settings can be used to determine which pieces of data from individual spotlights are displayed
  2. Show Link Text - Determines whther the spotlight link will show with the spotlight, when applicable. If the spotlight contains a link, it will be linked whether or not the link text is displayed
  3. Number To Show - Controls how many spotlights are displayed. A pager and "View All" link will be available to the site visitor to access additional spotlights.
  4. Layout Style - Controls if the spotlights are displayed vertically or horizontally, and how the text will be wrapped. Vertical alignment works well when placed in a column, Horizontal can look nice in full-width content areas.
  5. Image Effect - Adds effects to the spotlight's image such as a shadow or border.
  6. Maximum Size - Determines the max width for spotlight images to display.
  7. Default Link Text - The default link text for spotlights without link text is "More..." This field can be used to change the default link text.
  8. Show/Hide Spotlight Text - When hidden, only the spotlight image will be displayed.

Controls Options

These settings determine the location and visibility of pagers, buttons, and the 'view all' link. Some of these items will only show if all the spotlights in the group aren't displayed at once.

Override Options

Advanced Javascript Override - Spotlights can have additional customization added with Javascript coding. This is rarely used having been made obsolete with the built-in customization settings that have been added in the display and controls option areas.
