Iris Release - Spring 2024

Spring is here and just as the flowers begin to bloom, so will Foxbright be upgrading clients to the new Iris release! Please note these release notes will continue to be updated as we build more thorough documentation for the release. 

NEW Rich Text Content Editor

We've completely updated the rich text editor used throughout the system including for on-page editing, and modules that have rich text content such as news, stories and calendars. 
  1. Modernized look with the most common functions easier to find. 
  2. Drag-and-drop function for uploading images and files. 
  3. Streamlined linking and image management. 

On-Page Editing Process

We've re-styled the look of on-page editing to provide a more WYSIWYG feel and keep the most important block tools at your fingertips. 
  1. Modern and sleek lines around blocks to eliminate distractions while building and updating pages. 
  2. Re-organized block selector dialog - find what you need fast. 
  3. Block processor settings streamlined and modernized. 

Stories Feature Overhaul

We've re-built story content editing from the ground up to support custom layout creation and drag-and-drop blocks.
  1. Visual Editor offers custom column structures for unique layouts and on the fly content creation. 
  2. Drag-and-drop block menu allows you to quickly populate stories with dynamic content. 
  3. Stories can be linked to custom URLS as an alternative to story content. 

News Feature Updates

The news post form has been re-arranged to support quick posting without distractions. 
  1. The most common fields for the news post have been re-organized to tab 1 of the form field, optional fields consolidated to reduce distractions. 
  2. Auto-populated publish/archive dates to save clicks. 
  3. Go from 'New Post' to 'Published' in moments.

News & Spotlights Copy Function

We've added the copy function to News & Story Posts and Spotlights so users can quickly update and re-use existing content. This adds to existing copy functions for features such as Calendar Events, Menus, Forms and Pages. 

Updated Icon and Directory Styling

  1. Updated to the latest Font Awesome library which includes new social icons for Twitter/X and TikTok.
  2. Public icons used on features such as banner rotators, News RSS and ICal icons, and other default icons have been updated to a new modern look. 
  3. Filters and fields used in the searchable staff directory have been modernized. 

Foxbright has alternative icon sets that can be applied to various features such as the photo banner rotator navigational arrows. Web Administrators can contact Support if they'd like to switch to an alternative icon. 

Azure Integration 

Developed full AZURE integration to offer a more robust Active Directory staff sync and Single Sign On functionality. We will be releasing more information and documentation on this integration ASAP.
In the coming months, Foxbright will be sunsetting the legacy LDAP authentication function in favor of the more secure Azure SSO. We will be reaching out to clients using LDAP directly to begin the transition. 

App Integration

  1. Added direct link to app dashboard from the website CMS for app administrators. 
  2. Improved feeds coming from App posts to create dynamic website feeds featuring mass notification posts, engagement messages, and social posts.

Security and Speed Updates

  1. We've updated jquery and eliminated external code such as moment.js to increase security.
